Our association and the Festival were born in 2007 with the idea of creating an annual event which could be held in Sicily with the exclusive support of private companies and funders. Since then, Alter-native Energy festival has changed format and “skin” to adapt to the changing environment in the world of renewable energies. The Festival started in Gibellina, a small town in Sicily, to reach all 9 provinces in Sicily and even Rome!
In 2024 the Festival will celebrate its 12th edition thanks to the support of private companies and donors. Also, being alter-native means that the Festival produces “native” artists, local and “alter” which means “non conventional”, “quality” artists who are famous for their work in the indie or experimental scene
